For the past 3 years I’ve have a small (30 gallon) saltwater tank at work by my desk.
One of the first fish I bought for it was a blue tang, or “Darcy” as every visitor under the age of 12 calls it.
A few weeks after I got it it contracted Hole In Head Disease, a fish disease that is almost always fatal. I tried all the speculated remedies (the cause is unknown and therefore so is a cure), and eventually the fish died.

Requiem for a Cup

As I’ve posted about before, I have a lot of daily and weekly rituals.
One of these is that at work I have been drinking water from the same plastic cup for the past 6 years. It sits in the same spot on my desk, is only used for water, and is only washed about once every 1-2 months. (That last part might sound gross, but I figure it’s my own germs on the lip. For about the past month, this sign has graced a revolving door in the lobby of the building I work in.
This leaves me wondering: how does something with only one moving part become “out of order”, and stay out of order for so long?
Shouldn’t be that hard to narrow down where the problem might be. :)

Unfortunately we have been left with am empty carcass, a head, a gizzard, a loop of intestine, and a pool of blood and feathers that we have no way to knock down.

This is a post that only true web-nerds will understand.
For the past few years, for some reason as a result of working with them so much, I’ve developed a knack for being able to see or think of a color and tell you pretty close to spot-on what the hex code is for that color, or conversely take a hex code and visualize what color it represents.
This “skill” has been the subject of both amazement and mockery around the workplace for a while.
