It’s been a year since the last walk, and I’ve put back on too much weight in that time. So let’s get together and do something fairly easy before 2009 slips away from us!
We’ll start out at the Kauffman Memorial Garden, and about 2 hours later we’ll finish by crossing under the City Market welcome sign. Highlights along the way will include the Brush Creek Riverwalk, Mill Creek Park, the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, Penn Valley Park, Liberty Memorial, Union Station, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power & Light District.

After too long of a sabbatical from taking really long walks (almost 7 months!), I started out small this past Thursday morning by taking a walk to my doctor appointment.
It’s amazing how quickly one’s body can get out of shape when a routine is broken. I’ve walked this route from Downtown to St. Luke’s (about 33 blocks as the crow flies) many times and it usually takes about an hour. This time it took me an hour and 20 minutes.

I’ll be leading a group walk on the Mill Creek Trail in Johnson County this Sunday. Dogs and kids are welcome! This is an easy, scenic hike on what is expected to be a sunny day. The walk is divided into 4 segments so you can choose a walk length that suits you.

This morning I led a small group on a walk through downtown KCMO, over to downtown KCK, and back.
We walked just over 10 miles from the City Market, south through downtown, crossing I-670 at the pedestrian bridge on the edge of the bluff west of Summit. At 17th we backtracked by way of Beardsley and walked down into the West Bottoms using the lower level of the 12th Street Viaduct. This Sunday I’ll be leading a group on a 13-1/2 mile walk from North Kansas City to Prairie Village. The walk starts at 9am and will take about 4 hours. We’ll be having a picnic lunch at the end of the walk.
