It’s bad enough that the news story in question is doing a live, on-location report in the first place because it’s live at a place where absolutely nothing is happening, that has absolutely nothing to do with the story, a local news gimmick that I hate

But when the story is about teen drug use in SoJoCo, why in the world is the live report from a location in KCMO that is not mentioned in the story whatsoever?

Who between the ages of late twenties to early forties doesn’t, at least sometimes, count to 12 this way?

They were my arch nemesis because when they first moved in they had a band that practiced loud amplified music almost every evening and threw loud late-night parties (sometimes until past 3am) just about every week, even on work nights. At 2am on work nights I would often be awakened by the sign shop operating its machinery. When I complained, they responded that maybe city life wasn’t cut out for me and that it’s no different than the train down at the bottom of the bluff, and if I can’t deal with it I should move to thee suburbs. (Sorry, but I was living here first and the trains were never anything like this.)

One night one of the parties got so loud that all of my glassware was clanking together, my windows were rattling, and my room humidifier began walking across the living room floor. I reported them then, as I had many times, and the landlord told me he gave them a final warning.

That was all about a year ago.

Since then, I found that everyone downstairs were actually very nice people. And we learned to co-exist. The frequency of their parties cut way back, the ended them at a decent hour, band practice was leess often, and they found ways to make thee music less instrusive to the neighbors. Meanwhile I adapted by simply staying out on First Friday nights, so they would have their First Friday parties without it annoying me.

It turns out they weren’t so bad after all, once they adapted to the fact that they were in a residential building and I adapted to their schedule.

So, where once I would have celebrated them moving out, instead I find myself now hoping that it’s because they found a better location and not because they have gone under.

Now I nervously await finding out what will be downstairs from me next.

But Gladstone, MO is taking it further. If you’re route home from buying fireworks happens to pass through Gladstone, the local police intend to pull you over and cite you for possession of fireworks within city limits.

Has Gladstone forgotten what Independence Day is really about?

Nor do their adult chaperons.

Nor do they know how to drive.

Or that green means go.

That is all.

Is there any logic whatsoever in hiring a hip hop artist and then kicking him off the stage for playing hip hop, especially when you are trying to smooth over previous (and weak) claims of racism?

Yeah, tell that to Patrick Swayze.    Twitter users don’t exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to checking the facts be re-twitting things.

Sounds to me like there’s a lot more at play, and the only racism is likely coming from those who pull the race card every single time they don’t get their way.

1. You can sit quietly, not bothering the person who was there first, and politely wait your turn.
2. In-between games you can politely say, “Excuse me for interrupting, but when you are done would you mind letting us know so we can move on down here?  Thank you very much.”
3. You can also try “Excuse me, but we’re just going to be here a few minutes and there’s a game we really want to play.   Could I buy your credits from you or perhaps buy you a drink and hop in for a few minutes?”
4. You can have a drink and then realize that there are at least 20 other MegaTouch machines with Photo Hunt within walking distance and go to any of them.
5. You can interrupt in the middle of the game and start quizzing the person playing about how much longer they are going to be playing, not stop talking, and continue to distract the player and cause them to lose their game.  Then stand a few feet away talking trash like the person isn’t there, and whine to the bartender, and ask the bartender to unplug the machine and say it’s closing time, and re-interrupt repeatedly, and trying to jump in and steal credits while the player is in the bathroom, and re-interrupt some more and continue to talk trash from a few feet away.

Oh, I’m sorry, you group of entitled-feeling twenty-something year-old d-bags, did you choose poorly and select the one and only course of action that might piss off the person you were negotiating with?

Then I’m sorry that you flustered me so much that when I stood up with $5 to go put in the jukebox I accidentally tripped and sent my money into the Megatouch money slot by mistake.   Oh… did closing time come before all my credits got used up?    Awwww…. so sad.

If it’s any consolation, I still have 1 credit left in the machine.   If you hurry and get back there at opening time this morning, you might be able to get your Photo Hunt in.
