In the past I have noted the Jackson County Courthouse flying a tattered flag for several days, and on another occasion flying the flag upside-down.    Looks like they’re back to their old antics again of completely forgetting proper flag display ettiquete.   And whenever the death of a political figure warrants lowering the flag, the Jackson County Courthouse is always the last place to remember to do so.
This past Friday, the courthouse completely forgot about lowering the flag to half mast for the 9/11 anniversary.  They finally remembered to do so …

About 6 weeks ago I was in a hurry and pulled by car up to a parking spot along Walnut at 5:45pm, 15 minutes before meter enforcement ends. I had exactly one coin on me, a quarter. I popped it into the slot, and….. the blasted thing ate my quarter!
“Oh well, what are the odds someone will come by in the next 15 minutes?”, I stupidly thought, and I went inside.
Sure enough, I returned to find a ticket. Oh well.

On Saturday, November 22, my friend B and I had a few hours to kill so we headed south of Kansas City to find a few places to get a beer.
But before we even touched a drop of beer we had a chance encounter with a famous TV spokesman of long ago — Col. Billy (of Boots Williams Ford, Rockwood Smorgasbord [or was it Gold Buffet?], and Swap-n-Shop fame) when I stopped to buy some extra batteries for my camera. I didn’t know he was still with us …
