Wednesday, July 15, 2009. The first day our barhopping trip that we had been planning for almost a year in celebration of B’s graduation. (Plus, we never really took any long trips in 2008 and they have become kind of a tradition.)
We hit the highway at 8am on a drizzly Wednesday morning, heading north on I-29 towards Lincoln, Nebraska.
Our first stop was in the town of Dearborn, MO (pop 529) where we prepped our systems with breakfast at…

We got back into Kansas City last night after our longest pub crawl yet.
It’s going to take me a few days to sort through all the pictures and notes and get the full stories posted, but in the meantime here’s a few numbers to tide you over:

It’s just after 10am, and I’m sitting at a bar called Quackers in Mound City, MO enjoying the first beer of the trip.
The actual bar is very small, seating only three, but there is a good amount of table seating.
The fact that we got here right after 10am bodes well for meeting our schedule for today.

First thing Wednesday morning I’ll be hitting the open road with my cohort, heading to Nebraska to tour the rural and not so rural bars of the state in search of cold beer and interesting people and hangouts.
