Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed “Judge John Torrence” rising back to the top of search terms that bring people to my blog.   You may remember him as the judge who let that scumbag Curtis Mertensmeyer off with a slap on the wrist earlier this year  for a gruesome hit-and-run homicide.   I thought maybe there has been some new development with that pampered Mission Hills kid and his light sentence, but a Google search turned up nothing.

However, when I searched for the judge’s name alone, the results were quite different.   By now this is old news, but apparently a few weeks ago Judge Torrence decided to dish out another shockingly light sentence by ordering Independence, MO resident Jarred Elwood to 5 years of probation after being convicted of repeatedly molesting and abusing a little girl for 8 years.

I won’t rehash all the details of the case because others have already done a fine job.   Here’s some examples:

So, once again, let all Jackson County voters remember.    When you see John M. Torrect come up for renewal on the ballot, vote no!
