Let’s go for a walk

4 September 2009 2 Comments

It’s been a year since the last walk, and I’ve put back on too much weight in that time. So let’s get together and do something fairly easy before 2009 slips away from us!

We’ll start out at the Kauffman Memorial Garden, and about 2 hours later we’ll finish by crossing under the City Market welcome sign. Highlights along the way will include the Brush Creek Riverwalk, Mill Creek Park, the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, Penn Valley Park, Liberty Memorial, Union Station, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power & Light District.

p2820214-2Arrive a little bit early to enjoy the gardens before the walk begins, then gather inside the tropical plan building (where the restrooms are) at 12:50pm. The walk will begin at 1:00pm.

How long of a walk is this?
6 miles — a little more than a mile over the minimum distance experts recommend walking throughout the course of each day. It will take about 2 hours to finish the walk, give or take a little.

This is a timely post for me. It has taken several years, but I have put on weight in my middle that I now hate. But I also hate exercising. Lately, I’ve taken up walking. Not much, just around my neighborhood, but I am hopeful it will help get rid of my mid-paunch. At least I am realistic that it will take time, as it took time to get the pudge.
