No Respect at the Jackson County Courthouse

For the past few months I have watched from my office window as the American Flag atop the Jackson County Courthouse has rapidly deteriorated with no action being taken to fix the situation…

jcflag.jpgFor the past few months I have watched from my office window as the American Flag atop the Jackson County Courthouse has rapidly deteriorated with no action being taken to fix the situation.
To the left is how this flag looks today… a tattered tightly-wrapped strip of cloth barely hanging on by a single eyelet. It has been this way for at least the past several days.
What kinds of message does that send when a government building cannot propery display the Flag and treat it with respect? What kind of image does that send to the tens of thousands of visitors who will be able to see that flag as they descend upon downtown Kansas City this week?
UPDATE (March 12): The flag has just been fixed!
